The manufacturer's own monitoring reported the string as healthy because each cell remained within absolute voltage bounds. Absolute thresholds are necessary; they are not sufficient. The tell was the internal resistance trend, not the voltage.
We recommended immediate string replacement. A discharge test two weeks later confirmed runtime had fallen to 62% of nameplate. The operator avoided an unplanned event during the subsequent typhoon season.

We now treat peer-string comparison and resistance trending as standard ACR Class A monitoring for UPS batteries on every retainer. Voltage-only health is a false comfort.
